Highways Jammed With Broken Heroes is a new solo album by Kansas City based performer-composer Seth Andrew Davis . The album is a series of pieces for prepared guitar and live electronics that Davis recorded between late 2020-early 2021. The album and track titles are inspired by the lyrics of Bruce Springsteen’s “Born To Run”, envisioning a futuristic, digital, and cybernetic re-imagining of the themes of the song. Davis was inspired by the use of the guitar in “Born To Run” as the entire band is orchestrated around the open guitar chords and tone along with the recording and layering of dozens of guitar tracks Springsteen utilized for the final song. Along with Springsteen, Davis took inspiration from composers Glenn Branca, Gerard Grisey, Morton Subotnick and improvisers Sandy Ewen, Sam Newsome, Keith Rowe who have focused on expanding and changing the timbral capabilities of acoustic and electronic instruments.

The album is dedicated to my Dad, Monty Davis, who also made me a lifelong Springsteen fan.
