about

Born out of a publishing project which approached Midwestern Noise as a sort of "regional folk music”, Signal Decay is a noise rock/early industrial-indebted experimental quartet of "Illinoisian Surrealists" that incorporates heavy and exploratory zones. Instrumentation includes various electronics & sample sources, hotwired synths, devolved guitar, contact mics, submerged sound poetry, and horn. Cistern of Records also features guests contributing vocals, clarinet, and contrabass. Recorded between 2019 and 2022, SIgnal Decay edited this source material into two cohesive tapestries. Mixing assistance and mastering by Tim Gick (Crazy Doberman).
